 ALF Tonight Show

"Tonight, Tonight" -
The ALF Tonight Show Special

Many people wrote me that they want pics and more stuff from the episode where ALF hosted the legendary NBC Tonight Show.
So now I present lots of pics, sound clips and info - enjoy! :-)

Well, who doesn't know the fabulous NBC Tonight Show with Jay Leno? That's a widely-known late-night-show on US TV, and also some people from abroad my know it. And excactly this NBC Tonight Show is hosted by ALF in this 2-part-episode. Although, back in 1989, Johnny Carson was the host of the Tonight Show (who did that job over 30 years by the way), not Jay Leno. And in the story of this ALF episode Johnny is not able to host the show and ALF is the guest host. But because lots of jokes in this episode hint at the NBC Tonight Show or at lots of other shows from the United States of that time, this episode has not been shown in some other countries where all other episodes have been shown (Germany f.e.). I think it's really a cool ALF episode, especially the part about ALF talking to co-host Ed McMahon.

Well, and now I like to present some pics and sounds out of the Tonight Tonight episodes...

The 1988 NBC Tonight Show Logo
The beginning of the episode: The usual title sequence of the NBC Tonight Show from 1988. During the title, you hear the voice of co-host ed announcing the guests and the guest host ALF.

On these pics above you can see ALF doing the monologue at the beginning of the show. The first jokes of the monologue are included in the sound clip. Then co-host Ed introduces the band and the band leader. And after that, the regular ALF title sequence of the 3rd season is shown...

ALF with co-host Ed
The "Tonight, Tonight" episodes are so-called clip shows. Like in the "Try To Remember" episodes (#1.16 & #1.17), every few minutes clips containing funny situations from previous episodes are shown. Again and again, ALF and his co-host Ed find a reason to show even one more clip. One of these clips is available as a WAV file right here.

Of course ALF has interesting guests in his show. On this pic you can see him with the replacement host for ALF, co-host Ed and pope John Paul II. (from left to right)...

The end of the episode #57
At the end of the episode, the producers of ALF thank the Tonight Show for their cooperation...
